Today I visited the restaurant for the first time. The restaurant is located near the market square. There is a parking garage in the immediate vicinity of the restaurant. The "Comet Cine Center" cinema is not far away, and the Minto shopping center is also within easy walking distance. In terms of interior design, I found the restaurant to be beautiful and tastefully decorated. Was cozy, but could be a little darker for this. Visiting wheelchair users is rather difficult here. In summer you can sit in a quiet alley in the direction of the market square, in winter the entrance for wheelchair users seems to me to be very narrow and winding. The toilets, which were well-kept, are in the basement. A longer and steeper staircase leads there. Inaccessible for wheelchair users, rather difficult for people with walking difficulties. The prices vary between affordable and "expensive". However, I also had a beef tenderloin. I paid a normal price for this. Payment can be made in cash, with an EC card or credit card. There were two of us and we paid 42.50 euros without tips. Beef fillet with french fries and two still water + pasta dish and apple spritzer and coffee. Overall, I liked it and tasted it. The service is friendly and original Italian. ? Typical Italian dishes are offered. A star deduction for the following reasons: a) Meat could have been warmer. A side salad could have been included for the price. As a side dish, I could choose between fries or a salad. b) Accessibility. Otherwise worth a visit.
Very nice, attentive staff, delicious food ... we will definitely be back ❤️
I got to know it again now. The boss, Paula, is enchanting, as is the girl at the bar. I feel in good hands.
I'm in this restaurant s. ü. 25 years guest. The service and the food are always impeccable and very tasty from day one. The prices fair. For me, by far, the BEST Italian restaurant in Mönchengladbach and the surrounding area. We recommend.
Delicious, friendly staff,
We were very disappointed. There were five of us eating on a weekday. We were satisfied with the starter. We had to wait a long time for the main course. When these were served the side dishes were missing. At some point, after the steak was already eaten, instead of a baked potato, a bowl of french fries came along with the waiter's announcement that potatoes are over. My husband got croquettes with his frozen fish plate. These were cold inside. Then there was a baked potato for the steak eater. My husband complained about the cold croquettes. In reply he got to hear from the waiter that he should take the baked potato from the other gentleman, it would be too much now. We felt unwelcome and ripped off.
Up until about 10 years ago I was a regular guest here with my parents and it was always a good Italian experience. Now, after years, I was visiting Mönchengladbach again and wanted to spend a nice Italian evening with my wife before going back to my distant home. Unfortunately, this resulted in a moderate disaster. It all started when dogs were apparently allowed in the restaurant. So far so bad. Especially when it has rained outside, the animal gives off the appropriate scent and the environment is delighted with its exhaust gases and eats off the table. We first ordered a Coke and a Fanta. Both drinks were unfortunately completely stale. We complained about this and the drinks were replaced, with some disbelief on the part of the service. The drinks that were brought were unfortunately just as dead as the first. Which, according to the waitress, couldn't be at all, after all, two new bottles were opened. The waitress became very rude and accused us of lying and sheer provocation. --- For reference; On the surface of the drinks there was not even the typical crown of bubbles to be seen as it is common with carbonated drinks. We left the restaurant, quite horrified and extremely disappointed, insulting the staff, and went to eat at Mendoza in Gladbach. There we received our drinks on the first try, just as you know and expect them. It's a shame and a shame to treat his customers like that. Maybe the restaurant is just doing too well and you don't need any more customers because the regular customers simply accept everything blindly and have lost the sense of a certain minimum level. This has nothing to do with the Marco Polo where I used to go to eat regularly with my parents. Save your money! Even the service at McDonalds is better.
Good Italian food at fair prices with very nice service. The restaurant itself is very quaint and not sterile like some other restaurant. All in all, very comfortable
Fantastically good service, top cuisine and meticulously adhered to hygiene without disturbing. Great evening !
The bruschatte for the starter was really delicious! The main course was unfortunately a total letdown in terms of freshness. The sauce, a cream sauce, tasted great, the vegetables (peppers, broccoli, onions) the peppers were ancient ... it was mushy, soft and really unappetizing, not only in terms of taste but also optically. The broccoli was also provided with so many needles that it looked quite unsavory ... So it's a shame, the service is very nice, the bruschatta is really great, the atmosphere is cozy.
Sat and ate very well outdoors. Great starter, main course: liver and pizza really good. Great value for money. We'll be back, with our dog or alone!
Super delicious food and always friendly staff!
Est Est Est Wonderful summer evening in Marco Polo with authentic Italian cuisine and warm hospitality. There are many Italian restaurants in Mönchengladbach, not always good ones. But if you are longing for the real taste of Italy, you come here. We came for the Fritto Misto and were not disappointed. All dishes were delicious, from antipasto to dolce and the culmination of Amaro Montenegro. We were served very friendly and there was a hearty laugh. The restaurant on the Marktstieg is rather inconspicuous in the passage to the Old Market, and yes, the furnishings are getting a bit old, but what counts on the plate and whether the service is courteous. Both were excellent, we will definitely be back. Grazie mille.
Best Italian restaurant with great Italian chef.
Staff behave. Servings made for children's bellies. Two tiny, thin cutlets with mushroom sauce and mushy, light chips for over € 12 very expensive. Pizza with seafood for 10 € much too expensive because the bottom was very hard and the topping was quite cartilaginous. Conclusion: Overall a bad price / performance ratio. Marco Polo is no longer an option for us.
Very friendly service and delicious food
Nice service, delicious food, fair prices. Unfortunately, a piece of glass found in the food was not taken into account in the pricing. We have given ourselves a discussion in the interests of both parties.
I highly recommend it. Very nice service and really nicely decorated. But it is not for in between as the prices are already higher than in other pizzerias.
The place is cozy there are always people there and you do not sit in a half empty room. The food is very acceptable and taste.
Friendly cheerful waiter, good food for normale prices. Nice location in a small alley just near the main square
Best Pizza in town. But do not go there during a heatwave. No Aircondion.
Nice restaurant
Super
Food was excellent and the place was really pleasant!
Ser yummy and nice atmosphere!
When we wanted to visit our Greek on Shrove Monday, it was unfortunately only open from 5 p.m. and the three of us decided to go to the Italian restaurant. Since we were already near the old market, we went to the Marco Polo on Marktstieg. I used to like to go to the same place in my wild days after we were in the old town, which at that time (probably 35 years ago), I believe, was still called Spinnrad. I remembered it very dark, which could also be due to the fact that I didn't eat there until after 3 a.m. - I loved the fact that you really got (almost) everything your heart wanted at this time. No matter whether it was hot milk with honey, or a couple of spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and parmesan, all wishes were fulfilled. Now the place seemed very bright and friendly to me - it is most likely to be Mediterranean. The only thing that reminded me of the past were old photos of Sophia Loren, Gina Lolobridiga and other film greats who were probably guests there. When we came in, only a few tables were occupied, but that changed every minute. The waiter was very friendly, polite and accommodating and took our order shortly after we were seated. He could remember everything in his head, although each of us had several wishes. Our drinks were on the table after a few minutes and immediately afterwards came pizza rolls with homemade herb butter and black and green olives, which we had not ordered. Bread rolls, herb butter and olives tasted very good and whet the appetite for what was to come. We had mixed salad, twice pizza (frutti de mare & spinach with onions) and once pasta with seafood (I think it was prawns). I had the Frutti de Mare myself and ordered it spicy and with plenty of garlic. Garlic and chilli oil came in separate little tureens so I could dose it myself. Both tasted perfect and my pizza was topped with seafood - not too much, but definitely not too little either. It tasted really great and was also well baked - not too pale, but not burnt either. My wife felt the same way with her spinach / onion pizza she was just perfect. My mother had the pasta with prawns and was very happy with it too. When paying, I was amazed - with us at Tegernsee the whole thing would certainly have cost around 70 euros, here just under 50 euros. All of this together is worth five stars to me. We'll be back for sure! Many Thanks!
Great atmosphere, excellent food, great prices
Good food at good price. High value for money. Place is clean and good. You will never be disappointed here.
Good Italian food. English speaking and English menu card available. Safe choice for dinner.
Nothing special..food looks much better than it taste
We like the food because it's prepared in traditional style and tasted very well, unlike some other popular Italian restaurants who provide more fashionable interior design, but the food tastes like fast food. The starter includes bread with butter and Olive. The bread is freshly baked from the oven. We had ordered chicken soup for our 1.5 year-old son. It surprised me that it was really with chicken meat and vegetables. For whom have been used to German chicken soup, this is the real chicken soup. We live in town and definitely will dine there more often.
Very nice italian restaurants in mönchengladbach. ...... whe come back again
